Humboldt Homebrewers Communities of Interest Guidelines

As a nonprofit organization, the Humboldt Homebrewers (HHB) are part of a multifaceted community. While our focus is on sharing the art, science, and culture of the brewing and fermentation crafts, we also strive to support and promote other organizations (including businesses) in our community. This guidance document defines our communities of interest and provides examples of how the club may use them.

1. HHB recognize the following levels of Communities of Interest

     A. The local community includes organizations in Humboldt.

     B. The area community includes organizations in the surrounding counties (Mendocino, Trinity, Del Norte, & Curry)

     C. The regional community includes organizations within ~150 mi radius from Eureka.

     D. Organizations outside these areas would generally be considered of national or international interest as appropriate.

2. HHB may use these defined communities, but is not limited to, in the following ways:

     A. For fundraising and donations; HHB will focus on the local community but will consider area community as deemed appropriate by a majority

     B. Board members monitoring Facebook posts or email:

          1. ‘local’ businesses or organizations can typically post with little review, if does not violate any prior club criteria.

          2. ‘area’ businesses or organizations can post if relevant to brewing or HHB

          3. ‘regional’ businesses or organizations can post if are part of the brewing community & are not just posting an ad to sell items

          4. ‘outside’ organizations can post after consensus from 2 or more Board members that is relevant to HHB

     C. For events:

          1. Promote local and area events related to brewing

          2. Promote regional or national homebrew competitions and similar events
